ONLINE Cyber Security Camps in Summer 2022

Sorry, we have decided to cancel the cyber camps for Summer 2022. We hope to return to in-person cyber camps in Summer 2023. Sorry again!

Similar to coding camps, we will offer the cyber security camps online as well. These camps are made possible through a partnership with Rex Academy. All the camps are Whole day camps (10am to 5pm daily, with a lunch-break around 12:30pm). These camps will enable the students to pass the industry certification exams (CompTIA Security +  and CEH-EC Council) which attests to theirs expertise and they are recognized by the companies!

Note that Networking camps goes on for 2 weeks (sessions starting in W2 and W5 – costs $600), Cyber Security Fundamentals camp goes on for 3 weeks (sessions starting in W1 and W4 – costs $900) & advanced level camp goes on for 2 weeks (only one session – starts in W6 – costs $600).

IT Fundamentals

IT Fundamentals teaches the basics of getting around a computer and the internet. Students will first learn about the hardware components of a computer and how they work. This means they can identify the parts of a computer such as the CPU, RAM, etc., and can explain their purpose. Students will then explore the nature of software from operating systems, file types, sound files, and video files. The course contains activities such as creating and securing PDFs, installing open-source content, updating device drivers, and configuring firewalls. The course concludes with some fundamentals about operating system security. This
course is the precursor to the Fundamentals of Networking curriculum.

System Requirements:

· This is browser based.

· Works on any PC, Apple computer, laptop, Chromebook, or tablet.

· Requires internet during use.

Computer Networking

The Network curriculum is precisely aligned to CompTIA’s Network+ curriculum. The primary goal of this curriculum is getting students certification ready. This course is the immediate follow – up course to IT Fundamentals. The course will start with a general overview of how a network works by analyzing the different network layers and protocols in each layer. There will be an emphasis on both security and implementation. We will learn about the various network topologies and the physical devices (cables, routers, switches) that make up these networks. Additionally, wireless networks and cloud computing are also analyzed. Finally, there will be some hands – on projects involving network installations.

System Requirements:

  • This is browser based.
  • Works on any PC, Apple computer, laptop, Chromebook, or tablet.
  • Requires internet during use.

Cybersecurity Fundamentals (CS1)

This course is the introductory class for cybersecurity certification (CompTIA Security + and CEH-EC Council). Students will master the fundamental concepts and learn different tools of the trade to become an active cyber defender. Students will use Kali Linux and its various cybersecurity applications such as Metasploit, crack passwords using Hydra, and execute social engineering attacks. Students will also learn how to defend against various forms of attacks from configuring firewalls, activating intrusion
detection systems, and learn about how cryptography can keep data and transmission safe.

System Requirements:

Windows machines only with the minimum specifications:

• Dual core processor

• 4 GB RAM

• Virtualization enabled.

• 20 GB of hard disk space for VM installation. Requires internet during use.

Advanced Cybersecurity (CS2)

Advanced Cybersecurity picks up here Cybersecurity – Level 1(CS1) dropped off. The goal is to approach certification readiness (CompTIA Security + and CEH-EC Council) by the time CS2 is done. In CS2, we explore advanced topics such as exploiting database security, studying the OSI model, and SQL injection attacks. Students will once again take command of Kali Linux to perform numerous exploits and learn their countermeasures. CS2 ends with capture the flag (CTF) challenges. The goal of the CTFs is to challenge students to use all the tool and techniques learned over CS1 and CS2 to perform forensic analysis and solve critical cybersecurity puzzles. At the end, there will also be test prep materials.

System Requirements:

Windows machines only with the minimum specifications:

• Dual core processor

• 4 GB RAM

• Virtualization enabled.

• 20 GB of hard disk space for VM installation. Requires internet during use.
